“Cold War” by Paweł Pawlikowski, funded by the Silesian Film Fund, is Poland’s Oscar candidate!

On September 24, the Oscar Committee chaired by Jan A.P. Kaczmarek unanimously chose Paweł Pawlikowski’s film “Cold War” as the Polish candidate for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

Rialto Cinema nominated for the PISF awards

The Polish Film Institute announced the list of nominees for the 11th edition of its awards, dedicated to rewarding exceptional efforts in promoting and propagating Polish cinema and enabling easier access to Polish films. The Rialto Cinema in Katowice received a nomination in the Cinema category.

"I Will Find You" – the Silesian premiere featuring the film’s creators in the Światowid Cinema

On Monday, July 23 at 7.00 pm, the Silesian premiere of the film I Will Find You directed by the brilliant documentary filmmaker Beata Dzianowicz will take place in the Światowid Cinema. The screening will be honored by guest appearances, including by the film’s director and stars – Michał Żurawski and Dariusz Chojnacki.

Funding from the Silesian Film Fund in 2018

For the 10th time, the Silesian Film Fund awarded funding to film productions. 3 feature films received funding, including: Maciej Pieprzyca’s “Icarus. The Story of Mietek Kosz,” Agnieszka Holland’s “Gareth Jones” and Marek Lechki’s “Bailout, Folks!”, 2 documentaries: “Women in Kiosk” by Daniel Stopa and Paweł Chorzępa’s “Gabi”, and finally, the animation “The Curse.” The Silesian Film Fund Commission, which chose the projects, consisted of Patryk Tomiczek, Anna Szrama and Martyna Starc-Jażdżyk.

Paweł Pawlikowski’s COLD WAR is part of the official selection of this year’s Cannes film competitions. We are happy to have co-funded this production. As you may recall, part of the film was filmed in the Silesian voivodeship in Rudy Raciborskie. Now, we await the Silesian premiere.
